No matter what we are all Europe

Youth exchange “It’s time to drop the curtains!” took place in Vadul lui Voda, Moldova from 27th of June to 5th of July 2014. Six countries — six people in each team — six… well, seven days = unlimited new experience and impressions. This is just a short description of youth exchange project “It’s time to drop the curtains!”, which took place in Moldova, in a beautiful town Vadul lui Voda, where we’ve spent a week. The main topic of the project was European Citizenship along with it’s opportunities and responsibilities. Particularly we’ve discussed a lot on the topic of expanding EU, intercultural dialog, opportunities to study or work abroad, freedom to travel, when your country is a member of EU and so on….
Youngsters from Netherlands, Italy, Ukraine, Georgia, Romania and Moldova spent a week to exchange ideas about democracy and tolerance, European values and current situation in each country involving past experience and future expectations. As there were participants from old EU countries along with participants from non-EU countries, both “sides” gained a lot of new information and expanded their knowledge on the subject of this project. We’ve had mostly non-formal activities such as role-plays, energizers and team-buildings, debates, living library etc. So everyone got involved into working process. At the end of the project some participants confessed that now they can see benefits from being the part of European Union, because before they’ve never thought about it and it was just natural for them. But the most important – all of us realized that no matter what we are all Europe and really, it’s time to drop the curtains!
