“Keys to social cohesion” 12-20th May, Ganja, Azerbaijan
Friday August 8th, 2014
In May this year 4 members of our NGO “Institute of Ukrainian Studies” went to Training Course “Keys to Social Cohesion – Citizenship Education in Youth Work”, organized by “Bridge to the Future” Youth Public Union.
Training course occurred in cultural center of Azerbijan – Ganja. During the project we got a lot of interesting information. On the project we considered issues ranging from migration and integration, social exclusion to economic development and religious freedom are currently dominating political debates all across Europe, while young people are mainly excluded from these debates they will have to live with the consequences of decisions made nowadays. That is why, the training brought together youth workers from Europe to discuss concepts of citizenship and shared approaches to youth inclusion in order to strengthen capacities of youth organisations and competences of youth workers in addressing causes and effects of social exclusion among youth. The methodology of trainers was starting point in the individual background and experiences with intercultural learning among the participants. With exercises, simulations and classical workshop we explored own perceptions of citizenship and participation, mechanisms of democratic societies and the concept of European citizenship in order to translate their own learning process into educational programmes for young people. Therefore, we spent a lot of time in self¬chosen working groups to reflect on learning outcomes and to planned future cooperation projects in the field of citizenship education.
Also during the project we had quest and excursions to city center, where we communicated with lokal, attempted understand the culture in general! So, look at the pictures and enjoy! By Yura Staryk.
